It seems like these video artefacts on VIA platform while playing on 2.6.* are related to Xorg module loading problems. Xorg.0.log says there is DRI (Direct rendering) enabled, while glxinfo says it is no.
One thing I want to try is to get VIA kernel patch into 2.6.22 and let's see what happens.
I do not have Russian on this linux box ..
